Game 1: Oldham 40 Huddersfield Giants 14
Oldham were back on court in pursuit of another national title against roses rival Huddersfield Giants who brought along some vociferous support. The game started evenly as both teams got an early goal on the board but Oldham soon moved through the gears with some solid attacking play from Victoria Austin. The quarter finished 11-2.
Coach Pam Hazelton made some early changes with Ebbie Danson-Chappell replacing Rebecca Hope at centre, Issy McGlashen led the defence well taking turnovers and tipping the ball with good work on the circle edge. Oldham lost their flow and allowed Huddersfield too much freedom, at the end of the quarter Oldham only added six goals to their tally 17-5.
Once again Hazelton rang the changes in attack with Hope back on at centre, Bryony Rhodes came on at wing attack while Amy Neild replaced Rhianna Egan at goal attack. With Hope back at centre Oldham seemed to find their flow again driving the ball through the court. Neild worked the circle well drawing the defenders away from shooter Amy Clinton. Oldham pushed ahead once again winning the quarter 27-10.
For the first time in the game the same seven stayed on court, Amy Neild came into her own and worked well with the attack to feed Clinton under the post who was clinical with her finishing. Oldham outclassed their opposition in every area of the court leading to a final score of 40-14

Game 2: Oldham 44 Hucclecote 22
With only one game’s rest Oldham were back on court facing Huccelcote of Gloucester, the two clubs regularly face each other at Premier League level, so it was looking like a good game was on our hands. The game started on level terms as the teams sussed each other out, but it was Oldham who took the bull by the horns with some great attacking play, Bryony Rhodes and Rhianna Egan feeding shooter Amy Clinton with ease. They took a six goal lead by the end of the first quarter 11-5.
Once again coach Pam Hazelton rotated her squad bringing Amy Neild on at goal attack, Vicky Austin to wing defence, while Issy McGlashen moved to goal keeper. Neild had an immediate impact with some very direct play into the circle while the ever-reliable Austin worked well in the mid-court bringing the ball through the court and setting up the attack plays. Oldham doubled their score in the quarter with the score at 22-11 at the half time break.
Ebbie Danson-Chappell gave Rebecca Hope a well-earned rest taking over the centre position and she started with a vengeance with some great drives to the circle edge and tracked back in defence taking a great interception on the run. The Hucclecote defence couldn’t cope with the two Amy’s in the circle trying several different tactics but Oldham once again scored 11 in a quarter to make it 33-18 at the completion of quarter three.
